About Gwyneth Thomas

From the time I was a small child, I have always been interested in the metaphysical and spiritual world.  I can remember reading every book about the subject that I could find.  I’d even read about it under my covers at night with a flashlight so my parents would think I was asleep.  It was the only topic that I really cared about.

By the time I reached college, I thought that I would have to give up the topic that I so  loved to think about in order to find a good job.  No matter what, I was determined that I would have to find a career where I could help people solve their problems, and I knew I didn’t want to be a psychiatrist.  So I went to law school instead, and graduated.  Very shortly thereafter, I unequivocally realized that there would never be a time that I would truly be happy in that career.  Running around the county courts, interviewing inmates in jail, and hanging out with people who were upset all the time made me feel like a small housecat surrounded by angry malamutes.  So, little by little, I extricated myself from that world and worked my way into the metaphysical world.

After a brief stint working on a legitimate psychic hotline, I managed to reconnect with a friend who, in the late 1970’s had invented a nifty little device called an aura camera.  I then wound up helping run the camera and another nifty and (then) newly invented computerized aura program at numerous large metaphysical and spiritual shows across the country.  It was terrific fun!  I felt like I had come home to my family.  The people that I met were kind and sensitive.  Most clearly had the genuine inclination to help people…What a concept!

Eventually I realized that I wanted to travel less and have my own space where I could really focus on helping people find their own spiritual center.   I had several very elderly cats and a husband who all seemed to miss me, and traveling less seemed like a really good idea.

In the spring of 2007 my husband,  who, by then, had finally accepted that I really, really, was not likely to return to the legal field, decided that it might be a good idea to go ahead and buy Avalon Visions, my favorite ongoing metaphysical shop that had been established in 1993, from the second owner who had only had the shop for a year and a half.  By the time we made our offer, the shop was in desperate need of a different owner.

It took tremendous effort to revitalize the shop.  In addition to many other strategies for raising the energy of the shop, I gathered a group of the best psychics that I knew, and brought them in as readers.  By the summer of 2009 things were looking much brighter.  I was about to put myself back on the reader schedule in the summer of 2009, but then the economy tanked, and I found myself working many more hours at the front counter, like so many other shop owners.  Little by little, the economy improved, so I dug out my tarot cards and began reading again.

Fortunately, in the spring of 2014, we were able to expand and add our healing side in what was once a cigar shop.  Because of the additional space, we have been able to add healers and other services.  The additional space has also placed a greater demand on my time.  Although I am still available to read, I have again decreased my scheduled times during business hours.

In the summer of 2017, we made the a great decision to move our shop to a wonderful new location.  We are now in lovely quaint Soquel Village.  Our move has allowed us to grow into the Avalon Visions Center For Creative Spirituality, where we continue our  dedication to bringing forth ancient arts that once flourished and receded into the mists, or out of our consciousness.

Beginning Sunday March 23, 2019 I will be leading a weekly Sunday morning meeting for Creative Spirituality where you will be encouraged to find your own creative brand of spirituality.  It’s all about love.

Avalon Visions Center For Creative Spirituality is a place where new visions are dreamed and reality is bordered only by the limits of imagination.
